DIFFERENTIATE YOUR SELF

Differentiate Your Self

In a world dominated by norms, traditions and sameness it takes courage to be different. This was the exact kind of world Jesus Christ did ministry in. And, it is the exact kind of world we live in today. It is a world where the natural pull and pressure of the crowd can literally destroy your message, your potential, your calling, your ministry and your life if you let it. But you don’t have to let the peer pressure of the crowd destroy you if you are willing to get into this circle or realm of being that Jesus Christ operated in. He thrived and excelled on being different and unique. You can do the same. And when you do a whole new world will open up for you.

Jesus was not just different from others but He boldly proclaimed his differences. He said to a Samaritan woman at Jacobs well in John 4:13-14 “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” He is saying that the water he gives is different from any other water. In Revelation 1:17-18 Jesus says, “I am the living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of Death and Hades.” Here Jesus is saying “I’m totally different from all others…I’m the perpetually living one…I’m the only one who was dead and is now alive forever.” Once again Jesus declares himself to be totally and completely different from all others.

Not only did Jesus proclaim and declare His difference, but others also recognized his difference. In John 7:46 is the record of others saying “No man ever spoke the way this man does…”
He was recognized and identified as someone who had something dramatically different to say. He had a different view of life and the possibilities for human beings that enabled him to speak with greater clarity. And his words landed on the ears of his listeners with incredible power and impact.
Just think about it for a moment. Have you ever sacrificed your rarity and difference in your attempt to fit in and be accepted? Have you ever forfeited your unique selling proposition and your specialized, patented twist just so you can be like everyone else in your niche? Have you settled for a life, a business, a ministry or an existence that looks like everyone else just because you felt uncomfortable being alone with your idea, your product, your service or your ministry? How much money, prestige, success and opportunity have you missed out on simply by being the same?
In a very real sense you were born different and 100% unique so you can be special and rare. And, there is true value in all that is special and rare. There is a magic that happens the moment you give us trying to fit in and be like everyone else in order to be accepted. You can essentially enter into a market where there is virtually no competition simply because there is no one else like you with your exact same idea, product or service. You have just eliminated all competition by choosing to be different. This alone will make a profound difference for you in your business and in your life.
My invitation to you is to take on being fully, totally and completely different. Shun sameness with a passion. Remember you are called to be unique. Your job is not to fit in with your message, your product, your service or your offer. By creating yourself as different will create an apple versus oranges comparison and avoid having to bend to those who shop based on price. You can stay grounded with the message of your unique, preeminent value in the marketplace. And you will position yourself to totally dominate the competition.
